Meet Jan

Jan is an experienced general practitioner educated at University College London (UCL). At Fabric+, he works at the intersection of design and health, specifically with age-friendly place development. He is one of the initiators of the ongoing project Ageing in the Arctic, where he contributes his expertise in geriatrics, frailty, and dementia. Jan moved to Northern Norway in 2021 and also works clinically as a doctor at Vigør rehabilitation hospital.

With over 10 years of experience as a general practitioner in London, Jan has specialized in managing frailty and dementia, as well as systematically working to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and contribute to increased independence among the elderly. He has also worked as a clinical leader in frailty, palliative care, and dementia at Greenwich CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) and participated in the "London Frailty Network," a network under NHS London that has worked to develop "best practice" in managing frailty. He also holds a master's degree in Global Health Systems and Policy from Queen Mary's University of London, where he explored the connections between health systems and social, political, economic, and cultural issues in various geographical and contextual frameworks.

Jan has also recently been trained in design thinking from MIT and particularly uses service design as a tool when working on interdisciplinary projects for place and community development.
